On April 13 2023, Chinese consumer technology company Xiaomi announced the Xiaomi Smart Band 8.
The unexpected addition of support for “necklace mode” will allow users to wear the oval-shaped smartwatch as a necklace.
In necklace mode, the Xiaomi Smart Band 8 still supports functions such as time display, step counting, and NFC without being affected by changes in form.
The Xiaomi Smart Band 8 also has a new running mode that allows users to place the body of the Xiaomi Band 8 on their shoes, which Xiaomi officially says can provide 13 professional data such as step frequency, stride length, landing impact, and landing pattern while running. In other words, the Xiaomi Band 8 can theoretically be used as a sensor for other wearables.
The firm claims that the Xiaomi Smart Band 8 is “more fashionable, professional, and interesting.” It has multiple straps available which are made of leather, metal, and fabric. The creative pairing with rich themes makes it a unique decorative piece.
The price for Xiaomi Smart Band 8 is expected to be around $40.
